Menu Planning

Saving time (& money) by planning my weekly menus.

To save time and money (and space in my small fridge and freezer) I always plan my meals for the week. I then write it up on my menu board in the kitchen so everyone knows what we are having each evening.  Then if I am not in to start tea, there is no excuse for someone else not starting the cooking.

Each week I sit down with my planning notepad and calendar and plan what meals we will have each evening.
Cheneycraft - menu plan and shopping list
Under that I write the shopping list for the ingredients I will need.

Cheneycraft - Non-menu items list
I also have a list of items that we need each week,  that are not part of the evening meal menu.  These are items for breakfast and lunch.

Cheneycraft - Freezer contents
In the same notepad I also have a list of the freezer contents to help me plan around items we already have.  This means we can take advantage of buy one get one free and freeze the other item.  It also means that when I start the shopping list, the first place I shop is at home.

Each week (when I remember!) I'll share my menu plan for the week and slowly add recipe details on another page to link in.

2016 Update: I have now started planning my weekly evening meals on a monthly basis, so I'll also share my monthly plan.

I hope that you will find this useful.  Please let me know your family's favourite evening meal (I am always looking for new meals to add to our repertoire).

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
